Those We Should Remember for 100 Years or Longer
The Year 2022
2022 was an up and down year marked by significant events both positive and negative. 2022 was a year of significant progress in climate change with nations reaching a deal to protect nature at COP15 as well as significant breakthroughs in nuclear fusion by US scientists. It was also the year of AI with AI models language model ChatGPT emerging as a disruptive technology. The world faced major challenges in 2022 with health threats like monkeypox, extreme heatwaves, population growth, technology disputes, political conflicts and economic uncertainty. The year was also marked by the fall of the Euro and increased pressure for tougher crypto regulations. The world also saw the rise of political leaders like Xi Jinping and Volodymyr Zelensky, and the changing of the guard with the ascension of King Charles III in Britain. Numbers Protocol is a digital media library and indexing system that provides a unique identifier, called Numbers ID (Nid), for every piece of digital media registered with it. This Nid can be used to access digital media files on decentralized storage as well as digital media information archived on the blockchain.
Over the past 2 years, Numbers has worked with Starling Lab for 78 days to document the 2020 presidential election and transition with Reuters, documenting war crimes in Ukraine (the world’s 1st web3 evidence), and document the effects of climate change in Brazil. These examples highlight the importance of Web3 archive on Numbers Protocol in providing a secure and transparent way to preserve and access critical historical events and information.
With this experience in mind, we have decided to launch our yearly project to select different categories of events for each year and archive the selected materials. This approach will ensure that important events and information are preserved in a secure and transparent manner, making it more reliable and trustworthy for future reference. The yearly selection of different categories of events will also allow for a diverse range of information to be preserved, highlighting the different aspects of our history and culture. Additionally, this approach will provide an organized and easily searchable way to access the archived materials, making it more accessible to researchers, scholars, and the public. Overall, this project will play a vital role in preserving our history and cultural heritage for future generations.
